This EXTRA bowstring is made of Dacron and is intended for recurve bows. Sold individually.
Dacron is a braided polyester yarn with more stretch than modern high performance fibres. That stretch absorbs part of the shock of the shot, which is why it is still the fibre recommended for wooden bows, traditional bows and beginner bows, whose limbs are not always certified for fast strings. On the other hand, a bow with a Dacron string loses some speed compared with a modern fibre string.
When choosing a bow and arrow string, the length has to match the length of the bow and the number of strands has to match the draw weight: a string that is too short or too thin overloads the limbs.
