THERMTEC THERMAL RIFLESCOPE VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF
ThermTec VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF thermal riflescope with 640×512 sensor (NETD ≤ 18 mK), 50 mm F1.0 lens, 2.8x magnification, detection up to 2600 m and 1200 m laser rangefinder with ballistic calculator. 1024×768 AMOLED display, 2 replaceable 18650 batteries (up to 16 h), IP67 and 687 g.
The ThermTec VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF thermal riflescope is a compact rifle scope with a 640×512 pixel sensor (12 µm, NETD ≤ 18 mK, 50 Hz), a 50 mm F1.0 lens with 2.8x base magnification and a 1200 m laser rangefinder with ballistic calculator. It belongs to ThermTec's VIDAR 2.0 series: short body, 1024×768 AMOLED display, two replaceable 18650 batteries and a 3-second start-up.
Features
- 640×512 sensor, NETD ≤ 18 mK: sensitivity to separate the animal from the background even with small temperature differences, with self-learning AI image calibration that keeps the picture stable.
- 50 mm F1.0 objective lens: 2.8x optical magnification and continuous 1x to 4x digital zoom, smooth or rapid, 8.8° × 7.0° field of view (15.4 × 12.3 m at 100 m) and detection up to 2600 m, according to the manufacturer.
- 1200 m laser rangefinder: single or continuous ranging, in metres or yards, plus a ballistic calculator: enter scope height, wind speed and direction, bullet weight, muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient (BC), temperature and pressure, and the scope shows the corrected point of aim for the measured distance.
- 0.39-inch 1024×768 AMOLED display: 45 mm eye relief, 6 mm exit pupil and ±5 dioptre adjustment. Focus is set with a rotary knob on top instead of a ring behind the lens, so you can adjust it without moving off the target.
- Automatic and manual zeroing: 5 profiles (A to E) for different rifles or loads, freeze zeroing, 7 reticles in 5 colours (black, white, red, green and blue), 6 colour palettes and picture-in-picture (PIP).
- Recording and app: photo and video with sound on 64 GB of internal memory, recoil-activated video (RAV) and a Wi-Fi hotspot for the ThermTec Outdoor app, which shows the live image, lets you change settings and gives point-of-aim recommendations.
- Built for the field: IP67 protection, −20 °C to +50 °C operating range, 6000 J recoil rating, silent lens cover and Picatinny rail mount included. Two replaceable 18650 batteries give up to 16 hours of continuous use.
Why choose this model?
The VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF pairs the 18 mK 640×512 sensor with a 50 mm F1.0 lens: a more detailed image, 2.8x base magnification and detection up to 2600 m, in a 201 mm, 687 g body. It is the series' balance of resolution, field of view (8.8° × 7.0°) and weight.
It suits hunters who need to identify the animal at longer distances before deciding to shoot and want rangefinder and ballistics in the scope itself. To save weight there is the VIDAR 335 2.0 LRF; for a wide field plus long range, the VIDAR 660 2.0 LRF.

How to choose
The VIDAR 2.0 LRF models share the 1024×768 AMOLED display, the 1200 m rangefinder, the ballistic calculator, the two 18650 batteries, 64 GB of memory, IP67 construction and the 6000 J recoil rating; the sensor and lens change. The VIDAR 335 2.0 LRF (384×288, 35 mm, 3.2x, 1800 m detection, 628 g) is the lightest and has the longest battery life. The VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF (640×512, 50 mm, 2.8x, 2600 m detection, 687 g) gives a more detailed image. The VIDAR 660 2.0 LRF (640×512, 20/60 mm, 1.1x/3.2x, 1000/3000 m detection, 887 g) combines a wide field and long range in one lens.
Frequently asked questions
What batteries does the ThermTec VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF use?
It uses two replaceable 18650 batteries giving up to 16 hours of continuous use. The box includes 4 lithium batteries and a charger, so one pair can always be charged.
How far does the rangefinder measure?
Up to 1200 m, in metres or yards. With the ballistic calculator on, the rangefinder switches to single ranging and the scope shows the corrected point of aim.
How does automatic zeroing work?
In the zeroing menu select Auto-Zero, confirm the zero distance, press OK and shoot within the next 15 seconds. The result is saved to one of the 5 profiles (A to E).
How far can the VIDAR 650 2.0 LRF detect an animal?
The manufacturer states 2600 m. Detection means seeing a heat source; recognising and identifying the animal requires much shorter distances.
