This hood is made from lightweight cotton fabric and has a long tip (also called a liripipe). Due to the long tip, it can be attributed to the High and Low Middle Ages. This hoodl can also be used as an accessory in many ways.
Characteristic of the Gugel in general is the hood, which also covers the shoulders. This type of hood was first used by the Vikings. In the High Middle Ages it was part of the daily clothing of farmers, artisans and travelers. From the 14th century onwards, the hood became a fashion accessory - the cut became tighter, the tip longer and the hem often decorated. From the 16th century onwards it was rarely used.
